In the deep sea, where sunlight struggles to penetrate deep into the waters, the bioluminescence coming from a jellyfish is what lights up the darkness. While not physically as bright as the literal sun, a deep sea jellyfish’s lifecycle makes it live continuously in perpetuity while emitting light, much like the sun’s capacity to shine for billions of years. Through the use of various LED emitting devices to paint light within the camera’s framing, the project aims to encapsulate the essence of these living stars beneath the deep ocean.
