Maxis 4G Network
Malaysia’s telecommunications industry has always been a highly competitive one. In 2016, the conflict escalated with an intense price war between the top four mobile operators.
Maxis needs to differentiate itself in a way that doesn’t involve price. This means creating novel and unforgettable experiences that emphasize the superior speed and coverage of its 4G network.
Online video consumption is on the rise, especially via mobile data. We took this opportunity to create Malaysia’s first 360 film series, Maxis Rojak 360, in which we married classic storytelling, 360 video technology and the unmatched video streaming experience on Maxis 4G.
The series is a multi-location, multi-lingual collaboration between Maxis 4G and four homegrown award-winning storytellers, based around the central theme of “See Malaysia From All Angles”. This is to tie in with the fact that viewers can pan around to appreciate the beauty of every angle in every scene, as well as celebrate Malaysia’s colourful diversity. Apt, with Merdeka and Malaysia Day around the corner.
The four Maxis Rojak 360 films were not screened in cinemas but rather, on 15 million mobile screens in the country. We also created the world’s first ever 360 banner ads which enabled viewers to watch the video entirely on the banner.
