In a world where color is forbidden, Ebon, a rebellious young con artist, defies Lady Monochrome’s rule by painting vibrant murals with smuggled paint. The ruler spreads fear of the outside, claiming it is filled with dangerous, colorful creatures to suppress creativity.
Ebon meets Ace, a rare color creature, and while intending to profit, grows attached and captivated by Ace’s powers. His perspective shifts after glimpsing the peaceful world beyond the walls. When Ace leads him to a hidden dungeon of mistreated creatures under the palace, Ebon is outraged and frees them. He confronts Lady Monochrome, and in the ensuing battle, her sacred chessboard is destroyed. As the wall crumbles, the vibrant world beyond is finally revealed to the citizens.
