As a child, Kang’s boundless imagination brought joy as he used his brush to create little monsters that explored the world with him. Over time, life’s pressures, societal expectations, and adulthood’s fast pace dulled this inner world. One day, at his old home, he found a forgotten drawing and realized “they” had never left—they’d been silently watching over him as he grew up. This illustration series reflects the quiet crisis of self-loss that comes with adulthood. “They” invite viewers to pause, reconnect with the innocence and imagination of childhood, and rediscover that fearless inner strength within.
