Background:
Bridging Physical and Virtual Identity
Thisnorthat Shanghai introduces Xiáo Yě as the human embodiment of the brand, symbolizing the multifaceted nature of identity. Inspired by the sentiment of isolation during the lockdown, Thisnorthat explores the personal spaces people create in both reality and the digital landscape. Through this project, Thisnorthat aims to bridge the gap between the physical and virtual worlds, offering a new perspective on how individuals express themselves through fashion and environment.
Idea:
Fashion and Identity in the Metaverse
The project uses Xiáo Yě, a 3D character, to represent the different personas
one can embody. Each animation showcases her in a variety of Thisnorthat outfits, with distinct digital environments that reflect her changin characteristics. From serene, nature-inspired spaces to vibrant, futuristic digital realms, Xiáo Yě’s surroundings and fashion tell a story of individuality, comfort, and imagination. This creative approach links digital clothing to the metaverse, where personal expression through fashion is not just real-world but also virtual, presenting a new frontier for storytelling and identity exploration.
