Brief

Lotus’s, still seen as the “new kid” after only three years in Malaysia, needed to earn emotional connection and trust during the most important festive season - Ramadan Raya. In a landscape dominated by long-established local favourites, Lotus’s had to prove it truly belonged by feeling instinctively, recognisably, and emotionally Melayu without saying it outright. How might we make Lotus’s feel naturally part of the Malay festive tradition, so it becomes the trusted choice for Raya?

Solution

We crafted a Senyuman Paling Bernilai Ramadan film inspired by 80s retro Malay films, the kind that makes people smile and remember the good old days. The story, tone and dialogue weren’t made only to sell, but to evoke warmth, nostalgia, and that familiar “kampung” feeling Malaysians hold close. Every line and scene was written to sound naturally Malay. It was simple, heartfelt and full of charm. We wanted people to see Lotus’s as if it has been part of Malaysian life for decades, even though it’s only been here three years.
