Netflix 'Tuduman Terkini'
Netflix had previously experimented with a pilot news parody video to promote an upcoming title, and its success led to the development of Tuduman Terkini; a 5-episode social-only series designed to entertain fans with a fresh, hyper-local twist on the news format. Each episode focused on a different Netflix title (Sheriff, Uglies, Wednesday, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Black Belt Officer) and connected them to Malaysian contexts with sharp, dry humour.The challenge: to deliver this on a limited budget and timeline, while maintaining creative quality and visibility across all five episodes. Although the rollout began before the eligibility period, the campaign concluded well within the qualifying dates for this submission.
This project was a close creative collaboration between Denhouse and Good People Network. Netflix provided broad thought-starters, which we developed into skeleton scripts and pitched episode by episode, refining jokes and structure until the right balance was struck.The production leaned into the lo-fi news parody aesthetic, optimised entirely for social media (9:16). Despite constraints, the series maintained high creative consistency, with the final two episodes driving strong engagement and reach. It was an unexpected, witty way to localise global titles and turn them into culturally resonant moments for Malaysian audiences.
