PERi-PERi Chicken Chop
After disastrous pandemic lockdowns which affected our primarily dine-in business, we needed to get Malaysians talking about Nando’s again, with the launch our version of Malaysia’s favourite, juiciest piece of chicken - the PERi-PERi Chicken Chop - made from juicy chicken thighs, while also creating buzz and differentiation for the brand.
We realised that when it comes to juicy news or ‘gotcha’ scandals, Malaysians can’t resist spreading it on social media, to earn social clout.
In ‘PERi-PERi cheeky’ Nando’s style, we created a juicy scandal of our own to set lips…and message boards on fire, by ‘accidentally’ leaking our chicken chop, before the launch.
We did this by ‘accidentally forwarding’ internal client emails, ‘prematurely leaking’ our press release to media houses, and ‘accidentally posting’ mock customer complaints about not being able to get chicken thighs.
