For 2020’s Chinese New Year, Prudential wanted to celebrate the festive season with a story that would bridge intergenerational gaps which spoke true to its time. With the brand’s spirit of ‘We Do’, it also needed a narrative that would illustrate an act that would defy the common stigmas of the old and the new.
Leveraging on the narrative of traditions, the film “Noodle Noob” showcases how new generations honored the old in their own unique way. It features an owner of a humble noodle restaurant attempting to teach and pass down ancestral secrets of the art of noodle-making to his teenage son. Despite many attempts, the son fails at making the noodles causing feelings of disappointment in his father. Yet, the reserved son begins to apply his digitally driven and innovative mindset to the situation, taking on a twist towards the end of the video. As a whole, the brand’s spirit was seen throughout the film - where action was taken every step of the way to bridge the gap between both generations.
