“Halal tak?” — you’ll always find at least one comment like this underneath most foodie reels and restaurant reviews. With the significant rise of the halal restaurant drama, boycotts of long-loved brands, and constant discourse on the “halal-ness” of delivery riders, there has been a tremendous amount of confusion about what’s actually halal or not. This makes Malaysian Muslims wary about everything they eat. Bekal, an end to end halal delivery service, wanted to let them know their food choices are 100% halal safe.
We leaned in on the topic of “halal tak?” and turned the sarcasm-laced comment into a positive one - presenting the question in a genuine and light-hearted manner. As a result, we became the brand most associated with halal food delivery, leading the category at 70%, which widened the gap against the next competitor.
