The Other Side project offers a profound and artistic exploration of age anxiety, focusing on women aged 18-25 who face unique pressures from societal expectations and the “social clock.” This trilogy of pop-up books unfolds across three stages—discovery, escape, and acceptance—each representing a milestone on the journey to self-understanding and resilience.
The project’s narrative is told through experimental illustrations, combining collages, watercolor artistry, and translucent organza that transform each page into an immersive, tactile experience. These mixed-media techniques invite readers to engage actively, allowing them to connect emotionally with the story. Symbolic windows as portals prompt readers to reflect on age and identity, guiding characters toward a sense of inner peace amidst time-related pressures.
Complementary items like stickers and keychains extend the project’s message, encouraging readers to embrace resilience and navigate age-related anxieties.
